Analysis of Service Oriented Software Systems with the Conversation Calculus

چکیده
We overview some perspectives on the concept of servicebased computing, and discuss the motivation of a small set of modeling abstractions for expressing and analyzing service based systems, which have led to the design of the Conversation Calculus. Distinguishing aspects of the Conversation Calculus are the adoption of a very simple, context sensitive, local message-passing communication mechanism, natural support for modeling multi-party conversations, and a novel mechanism for handling exceptional behavior. In this paper, written in a tutorial style, we review some Conversation Calculus based analysis techniques for reasoning about properties of service-based systems, mainly by going through a sequence of illustrating examples.

The Conversation Calculus: A Model of Service-Oriented Computation
We present a process-calculus model for expressing and analyzing service-based systems. Our approach addresses central features of the service-oriented computational model such as distribution, process delegation, communication and context sensitiveness, and loose coupling. Distinguishing aspects of our model are the notion of conversation context, the adoption of a context sensitive, message-p...
متن کاملSensoriaProcess Calculi for Service-Oriented Computing
The IST-FET Integrated Project SENSORIA aims at developing a novel comprehensive approach to the engineering of service-oriented software systems where foundational theories, techniques and methods are fully integrated in a pragmatic software engineering approach. Process calculi and logical methods serve as the main mathematical basis of the SENSORIA approach. In this paper we give first a sho...
متن کاملIdentification and Distribution of Interactional Contexts in EFL Classes: The Effect of Two Contextual Factors
This study aims at empirically furthering awareness of the organization of interaction in EFL classes. Informed by the methodological framework of conversation analysis, it draws upon a corpus of 52 three-hour naturally-occurring classroom interaction to identify classroom interactional contexts based on the structuring of the pedagogic goals in turn-taking sequences. Conversation analytic proc...
متن کاملThe Stream-based Service-Centered Calculus: a Foundation for Service-Oriented Programming
We give a formal account of SSCC, a calculus for modeling service-based systems, suitable to describe both service composition (orchestration) and the protocols that services follow when invoked (conversation). The calculus includes primitives for defining and invoking services, for isolating conversations (called sessions) among clients and servers, and for orchestrating services. The calculus...
متن کاملVocabulary Lists for EAP and Conversation Students
Despite the abundance of research investigating general and academic vocabularies and developing dozens of word lists, few studies have compared academic vocabulary with general service word lists such as conversation vocabulary. Many EAP researchers assume that university students need to know all the words in West’s (1953) General Service List (GSL) as a prerequisite to academic words (e.g., ...
